Celebrate Your 4th of July on the Water

July 2nd, 2010

With the heat of July, there is no better way to spend your long 4th of July weekend than on the water. Whether you have a boat, pontoon, or just use the beach, RAVE

Sports has some great products to keep 4th of July activities fun and exciting.

I personally spend most of my time on and behind a boat. So one of my favorite water towables is the RAVE Diablo. I rode this towable with my husband and let me tell you, if you like to get some great air off the wake and fly around turns, this is the tube for you. I was surprised at how stable the ride was. Even though I was thrown off a few times, it was a blast!

We also have an 8 year old daughter who absolutely loves tubing, so finding a tube that she (and I) would feel safe in was incredibly important. The Hydro and the Tirade were the ones she chose to try out. Not only were they safe and comfortable with deep cockpit seats, but she had a great ride. And I felt better that she was safe and secure and just had fun without the fear.

If you enjoy the relaxing nature of cruising the lake or river with a pontoon, then the Pontoon Slide is a must.

You can keep kids of all agesoccupied for hours. Set-up was quick and easy with the included battery pump and it straps to the pontoon in a cinch. Plus, the slide deflates quickly and rolls up to fit in a small bag or even a cooler which makes transporting it from boat to car extremely easy.

Now if you’re beach people, RAVE has a must-have product. The Aqua Volleyball is a complete, inflatable volleyball set that comes with a ball, adjustable perimeter float line, and stakes for making the court.

I liked how it didn’t have any cables or ropes for people to trip over too. It looks daunting to set-up and haul around but it’s really the opposite. In three quick and simple steps you’re ready for water volleyball games all day! Take-down was just as easy since it rolls up to the size of a small sleeping bag and fits right in a duffel bag so it didn’t take up much room in my car (trust me; I have a very small car, and an even smaller trunk).

Have a great 4th!!!

July 1st declared “National Boating Day”

June 30th, 2009

Both the House and Senate have passed a new resolution declaring July 1st “National Boating Day” to recognize the important role of recreational boating and the boating industry plays in the lives of the nation’s 70 million boaters and the U.S. economy.

Thom Dammrich, National Marine Manufacturer’s Association president stated, “The entire marine industry and recreational boaters nationwide look forward to celebrating National Boating Day. Not only is recreational boating a beloved pastime, but marine businesses are important parts of their communities and our national economy, creating business opportunities and local jobs. Our thanks go to all of the Members of Congress behind this resolution for their strong support of the boating industry.”

So what are your plans for “National Boating Day?”

Operation Dry Water coming to a lake near you

June 24th, 2009

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) is coordinating with the US Coast Guard and local officials for a national weekend of Boating under the Influence (BUI) enforcement, in the hopes of reducing the number of alcohol-related boating accidents.

This weekend (June 26th-28th) local law enforcement agencies and the US Coast Guard will be stepping up safety and BUI inforcement in an effort to crackdown on the number of injuries and fatalaties caused by Boating under the Influence.  Nearly 20% of fatal boating accidents are a result of alcohol use, and in most states, operating a recreational vehicle with a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.08% or higher is against the law.
